Everything You Need To Know About Hair Loss & How To Treat It

Discover who suffers from hair loss, why it occurs and how you can begin to stimulate hair growth.

Hair loss is a traumatic experience, impacting both the way we look and the way we feel. To make matters worse, it can be difficult to uncover the root cause of the problem, meaning the recovery process might be longer and more complex than anticipated.

After years of research and recovering from hair loss myself, I am now helping people effectively manage and treat their symptoms, enabling them to re-grow their hair and their confidence.

If you are suffering from hair loss yourself, know someone who is or just wanted some deeper insights then continue reading this …

Who Suffers From Hair Loss?

According to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, 40% of men experience hair loss by the age of thirty-five and around 40% of women will by the time they are forty (Hers).

Hair loss can affect anyone, at any age, male or female.

What Causes Hair Loss?

It can be difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of hair loss, as sometimes there are multiple factors that can play a part.

These can include…

Diet & Nutrition

Poor diet and nutrition can dramatically affect the condition of your hair. This is because our hair is fed from the hair follicles which are located under the skin of the scalp, where they derive nutrients from our blood.

Optimal hair growth is reliant on hair follicles being satisfied by necessary vitamins and minerals which are present in healthy whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

Stress

Whether it is work, family life, an unexpected event, or a combination of all three, being stressed can have a huge impact on our bodies and our hair.

Stress can also change how our bodies absorb vital nutrients. Our hair is a non-essential tissue and it is usually one of the first things that is affected when our bodies are lacking in these vital nutrients.

Hormonal Imbalances

As time goes on, our bodies go through many changes and so do our hormones.

This can cause hormone imbalances which impact us both physically and emotionally. These symptoms can range from mood swings, acne, weight gain, fatigue to hair loss.

Treating and managing these symptoms can be complex, as sometimes they are a result of natural changes occurring in our bodies. However, when it comes to hair loss, there are a number of ways you can begin to treat it and promote hair re-growth.

How To Treat Hair Loss

Stimulating hair growth can be difficult, especially when there are so many ‘miracle products’ out there which have little scientific evidence backing them (trust me I’ve tried them all over the years!).

After suffering from hair loss, myself, I have discovered that the most effective way to reduce hair loss and stimulate hair growth is ensuring we are following a balanced lifestyle.

The first step is cleaning up our diet by consuming predominantly whole foods, this means limiting pre-packaged foods, takeaways, and fast foods. This ensures our bodies are getting the right vitamins and minerals to function properly, helping to keep our hair in the best possible condition.

Next, it is important to reduce the amount of stress we experience on a daily basis. This is easier said than done, however, incorporating self-care activities into our daily lives such as meditation, exercise or something creative can be a great way to manage our stress levels.

Changing our diets and managing stress are both great places to start, but if you want to treat hair loss quickly and effectively, it is essential to discover the root cause of the issue.

This can be done through a bioenergetics screening, something we offer in our salons! This is a non-invasive way to get an accurate picture of what is going on inside your body and can highlight a range of issues from hormone imbalances to food allergies and nutritional deficiencies.

Find out more about the benefits of bioenergetics or feel free to get in contact with us to book an appointment!
