Expert Secrets To Preventing Hair Loss Webinar

Discover more about my first ever webinar and gain valuable insights into how you can regain happy and healthy hair.

Life is all about new experiences and overcoming challenges in order to grow. I’ve had a great deal of experience with hair loss both personally and with my clients however, I’ve never hosted a webinar before!

On Monday the 29th of August I dived into my own experiences with hair loss whilst giving expert insights into how to relieve symptoms of alopecia to regain happy and healthy hair.

It was amazing to share some of my tried and tested methods with everyone. These methods were developed after years of research and included diet, nutrition and lifestyle advice - all of which aided my recovery.

Don’t worry, If you missed out on the webinar then this article will give you a quick overview of what we covered. Alternatively, if you’d like the full experience sign up to our Hair and Wellness Resources and you can watch the webinar.

My Hair Loss Journey

My hair loss began early on in my life after being diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). At the age of 21, my symptoms became more extreme after I was diagnosed with a vitamin B12 deficiency and then cervical cancer cells.

Luckily, the cells were removed before they developed into anything serious but my recovery caused my hair to fall out at an alarming rate.

Through extensive research, I soon realised that my symptoms could be managed, controlled and even relieved through my diet… and yours can be too!

Alopecia

Alopecia areata is a common autoimmune skin disease which affects 147 million people worldwide. The condition occurs when white blood cells attack the cells in hair follicles, causing them to shrink and dramatically slow down hair production. This results in hair loss on the scalp, face and sometimes on other areas of the body.

There is a combination of factors which are likely to trigger alopecia areata, including changes in genes and your immune system, physical injury, illness or emotional stress.

Alopecia areata can affect anyone at any time and often develops suddenly over the course of just a few days.

Unfortunately, there is currently no cure for alopecia areata but there are ways you can help your hair rapidly re-grow!

Diet & Nutrition

Changes in your diet and nutrition can dramatically improve the condition of your hair.

This is because hair is fed from the hair follicle which is located under the skin of the scalp, where it derives its nutrients from our blood.

Optimal hair growth is reliant on hair follicles being satisfied by necessary vitamins and minerals.

Two essential minerals for hair growth are Iron and Zinc.

Iron deficiency and anaemia can be a major cause of hair loss. This is because iron helps your body produce haemoglobin, which stimulates the growth of cells.

I try and incorporate foods which contain high levels of iron into my diet. These include, lentils, spinach and red meat!

Zinc plays a vital  role in hair tissue growth and repair, whilst also helping to keep the oil glands around the follicles working properly.

Hair loss is a common symptom of zinc deficiency. Therefore I try and consume foods naturally high in zinc which include beef, pumpkin seeds, shellfish!
