How to Plan Your Bridal Skincare Regime

How to Plan Your Bridal Skincare Regime

Welcoming Jessica Wright as the new face of Simone Thomas Wellness, we’re sharing our top wellness tips for every bride-to-be ahead of Jess’s big day in September.

Every bride wants to look her best on her big day. When it comes to skincare, the sooner you start your regime the better. That’s because when you begin using a new product or following a new skincare regime it takes a minimum of 30 days to see visible results.

As a rule, changes to your skin will appear around a month after beginning a new regime, but you should wait at least three months to fully gauge its effectiveness. With lockdown ending and weddings been given the green light, here are our top tips to include in the count down to your wedding day.

1. Manage stress

First and foremost, keeping wedding-planning stress under control is essential for your skin and wellness. Stress weakens your immune system and is linked to many inflammatory conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne breakouts. Keep stress at bay by taking time for yourself, try practicing yoga, Pilates, mindfulness, or meditation.

2. Drink water

Healthy skin thrives on proper hydration. If you don’t drink adequate amounts of water, your skin can lose its elasticity and become dry and brittle. Make sure you’re drinking 8 glasses of water a day, every day for good hydration.

3. Get that vitamin C

Vitamin C is vital for healthy skin because it’s found in high levels in the epidermis (outer layer of skin).

Vitamin C has antioxidant properties and plays an important role in collagen production, helping your skin to stay vibrant and firm. Enrich your diet with foods that are high in vitamin C, such as citrus fruits, leafy greens, red peppers, and kiwis. Vitamin C consumed through your diet can also enhance the effectiveness of sun creams for added protection against harmful UV rays.

4. Enhance with collagen

Collagen is an essential protein needed for plump, youthful skin. At around age 25, the amount of collagen your body produces depletes, leading to a loss in its elasticity. You can consume collagen in your diet from foods such as fish, chicken, and red meats, however the most effective way to ensure you are absorbing it in high enough concentration is through taking supplements. Our SkinQuencher supplement has been expertly formulated to provide the most effective type of collagen, hydrolysed marine collagen, that can be absorbed easily into your blood stream. SkinQuencher also contains amino acids and vitamin C to help improve your skin’s radiance even more.

5. Ease off the sugar, caffeine, and alcohol

As enjoyable as cocktail nights and iced lattes are, in the lead up to your wedding steer clear of these as best you can. Sugar, caffeine, and alcohol will only aggravate your skin, worsening any conditions and weakening the hard work you’re putting in to achieve a healthy glow. Alcohol especially contributes to reduced immunity, hormone disruption and cell damage, all of which are harmful for your skin. Save the celebratory drinks for your reception!

6. Visit a dermatologist for topical treatments

Whilst healthy skin starts from within, topical treatments applied daily and nightly help to brighten and even out your skin. Everyone’s skin reacts differently to what you apply to the surface. The best place to start is by visiting a dermatologist who will tell you exactly what exfoliators and moisturisers, retinoids and peptides will work for you.

7. Get the sleep you deserve!

Last, but by no means least, make sure you’re getting plenty of sleep. Sleep allows our bodies to repair and protect our cells from any daytime damage. Less sleep means less time for our cells to regenerate, including skin cells, which can leave your skin appearing saggy, lacklustre, and covered in fine lines.
